5th Training Session Rick’s Cafe Network  in Lodz, Poland

Training on intercultural mediation : supportive resources and intercultural learning approaches and methodologies

Mediation, especially in education, has dual entity: it is a project and a process, in which pupils of the same age facilitate the resolution of conflicts between two individuals or, even better, between groups. This aspect of mediation is called Peer Mediation. A Peer Mediation can find a solution with the help of a third person, who is coordinating a discussion, in which both counterparts voluntarily participate and is carried out according to specific rules.
Within a similar frame of mind, Intercultural Mediation, more concretely can become a framework of practices which respects, celebrates and recognizes the normality of the diversity. Furthermore, it acts as bridge and works in order to ensure the cohesion by promoting diversity as enrichment, equality and human rights.
The training issues of all sessions might be of help to almost anyone involved in education. More concretely, it is essential for educators, practitioners and school counselors, teachers’ trainers, in-service teachers, prospective teachers, postgraduate students, researchers and scholars interested in the promotion of inclusive forms of education that are truly participatory.
