VOCA extended

Increased accessibility to vocational training and increased attachment to the labour market for disabled people through the VOCA Europe 2 Mentor Model.

The implementation of this international project started in November 2009. VOCA extended is co-financed by European Union within Lifelong Learning Programme- Transfer of Innovation, which is focused on lifelong learning, education and vocational education and training.

Due to booming technology and IT phenomena, distant learning and e-employment (home based employment) are growing in an exponential manner. Knowing the fact that the “home based employment” is one of the best employment models for disabled people in general, and it was also mentioned that almost half of non-working persons with disabilities need some form of assistance to work throughout the European Union. Therefore, the project will support participants of VOCA courses in further training activities for developing a mentor skills and profession, for mentoring the disabled people in integration to the working environment and to a new job. In this project, VOCA Extended, mentors will be offered training in more languages and they will also be trained in guiding disabled people in how to work from home.

Strong project partnership consists of 7 foreign countries: Turkey, Romania, Lithuania, Greece, Spain, Italy and Slovakia. Most of the partners are educational institutions which have valuable experiences in educational activities and with disabled people as well.
