GUIDE - Guidelines for Teachers Working with Students with Medium-light Cognitive Impairment is a European project co-financed by the European Commission under the Lifelong Learning Programme – Comenius Multilateral action (ref. no. 526283-LLP-1-2012-1-IT-COMENIUS-CMP).
In many EU countries too often ordinary teachers are not properly trained to deal with students with special educational needs. The project wants to change this by developing and piloting a Manual (Teaching strategies with students with MLCI - Medium-light cognitive impairment), and a 30 hours e-learning course addressed to in service teachers on how to support learning and school life of students with MLCI.
The project is focused on teachers working in secondary schools with students about 12-18, depending on national education systems.
The kick-off meeting of the project took place in Pisa, Italy on 19th and 20th February 2013 and was attended by representatives of the partner organizations from Italy, UK, Poland, Spain and Romania. The meeting was hosted and coordinated by the Italian coordinator of the project, Soc. Coop. Aforisma.
The aim of the kick-off meeting was to discuss the project plan, partners’ tasks and responsibilities, as well as to agree and schedule the first activities within the project.
As part of the kick-off meeting, a public presentation of the project to Italian Local Authorities, teachers and other stakeholders took place on 20th February 2013.
